Coffee, cake, chocolate…our sugary, highly caffeinated friends don’t always deserve the evil eye treatment. Nor, should we feel ashamed when we give them a seat at the table.
Why DO we gravitate towards these foods? Well, we’re programmed from Paleolithic times. The pleaser derived from high caloric, tasty foods that were strong motivators our ancestors needed to go hunt for food and risk their lives.
So, don’t think of it as cheating when you have these high caloric, tasty, sugary foods. But it’s important to ask yourself – How often are you celebrating? Are you eating these foods for comfort? Dig a bit deeper into WHY you are eating these foods, what are you escaping from. Will these foods help you reach your health goals?
